Architectural Design and Transition Planning

This offering focuses on the expert design of distributed system architectures. It involves analyzing architecture-significant functional and non-functional requirements and constraints to define an optimal solution blueprint. Key deliverables include necessary documentation primarily detailing the logical decomposition of the solution into independent service units and the proposed deployment strategy across the target infrastructure.

The primary modeling approach employed is the C4 model, supplemented by standard UML diagrams for clarity. Depending on the scope, alternative modeling perspectives such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD) may also be considered.

Designs fundamentally consider and apply relevant architectural concepts such as:

  • Client-server, peer-to-peer, or hybrid styles

  • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices

  • Event-driven paradigms

  • Modular and pluggable structures

  • Layered and N-tier architectures

  • Appropriate storage solutions and data modeling

  • Hosting and infrastructure considerations
